In this context, CITES, along with many other international agreements, is where the opportunity for countries to pursue the direction the efficient use of resources, but still environmentally friendly "- Mr. Achim Steiner, Program Executive Director United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Deputy Secretary General of the UN, said.
He added: "These proposals this year are focused on improving the conservation and sustainable use of marine species (including some shark species) and wood species (including more than 100 species of wood and monitoring of Madagascar ebony), populations of Ecuador Vicuna resource partitioning camels, polar bears, African elephants, white rhinos, freshwater turtles, frogs, crocodiles, ornamental plants, medicinal plants and a number of other species " .
